In a movie featuring supernatural gunslingers and immortal sorcerers, it’s no surprise there’s also multiple worlds. That’s exactly what moviegoers will be seeing in The Dark Tower, a film based on Stephen King’s eponymous novels. While fans will have to wait a bit longer to see any footage from the film, Sony Pictures has already dropped teaser images from its set. And, now, one of the film’s youngest actors has shared a photo spotlighting The Dark Tower‘s multiple worlds.

Tom Taylor took to Twitter and uploaded a photo along with a message that reads, “Traveller, beyond lies Mid-World.” The photo itself shows Taylor in character as Jake Chambers. Standing in front of a glowing light, Jake is seen approaching the doorway between Earth and Mid-World. And, off to the side, fans can see a message that warns them, “There are other worlds than these.”

If you’re totally unfamiliar with Jake or The Dark Tower, you should first know the franchise stands as one of Stephen King’s most iconic works. The author has published eight novels for the series during the last three decades, and The Dark Tower has also ben adapted in graphic novels by Marvel Comics. The series follows Roland Deschain, a gun-toting knight who’s determined to track down the Dark Tower. As the building is said to be the center of all universes in existence, Roland wants to use the landmark to save his now decaying home world. But another character named Walter Padick is also on the hunt and wishes to use the Dark Tower to take over the multiverse.

Clearly, there’s a lot of backstory involved with The Dark Tower due to its long history, but fans shouldn’t expect its film adaptation to be so complex. In fact, moviegoers who’re completely unfamiliar with the franchise should be able to jump into the film without any issue. According to Collider, it seems as if The Dark Tower film will act as a sequel of sorts to the book’s by taking place after their events. So, really, even fans of the books aren’t sure of what’ll they find in the film.

It’s no surprise there’s little information available now about The Dark Tower‘s storyline. However, fans do know several actors who’ve have signed onto the project as Idris Elba will play Roland while Matthew McConaughey portrays Walter. As mentioned, Tom Taylor was cast as Jake following an international search, and other talent like Abbey Lee, Fran Kranz, and Claudia Kim have also joined on.

If you’re interested in the film, then you should definitely check out its description below:

“The Dark Tower series tells the story of Roland Deschain, Mid-World’s last gunslinger, who is traveling southeast across Mid-World’s post-apocalyptic landscape, searching for the powerful but elusive magical edifice known as The Dark Tower. Located in the fey region of End-World, amid a sea of singing red roses, the Dark Tower is the nexus point of the time-space continuum. It is the heart of all worlds, but it is also under threat. Someone, or something, is using the evil technology of the Great Old Ones to destroy it.”

The Dark Tower is set to roll into theaters next year on January 13th.
