More people are searching for Pokemon than ever before thanks to Pokemon GO. Although the popular mobile app encourages people to search in the real world for Pokemon, the game has also caused a massive spike in Pokemon related Google Searches. According to Google Trends, “Pokemon” has seen a massive surge in Google searches, more than anytime over the past 12 years. People are Google searching “Pokemon” at nearly twice the rate they were in 2011 and 2013, when Pokemon Black and White and Pokemon X and Y were released for the Nintendo 3DS.

Interestingly, “Pokemon” is garnering a lot of Google searches in countries where Pokemon GO hasn’t been released yet. People in the Phillipines, Peru and Chile are all heavily searching Google for Pokemon, presumably in hopes of finding out when Pokemon GO will be released in their country.

Pokemon GO has helped reignite interest in the Pokemon franchise.Nintendo stock has soared since the game’s release, and Pokemon GO is about to surpass Twitter in terms of Android daily users.

Pokemon GO is available in the United States, Australia and New Zealand.
