Robert Englund, who originally played Freddy Krueger in Wes Craven’s A Nightmare On Elm Street horror franchise, made it abundantly clear that he is done playing the disfigured serial killer that preys upon teenagers in their dreams.

Englund tweeted, “Just for the record, I will NOT be starring as Freddy in any new Nightmare projects, real or fictional.”
He felt compelled to issue a clarification because sites mistook recent comments he made as an indication that the 68-year-old actor might slip on his red/green sweater, fedora and bladed-glove again. Those comments were merely suggestions on how to get the franchise rolling again without remaking it (again). Englund said, “You don’t do remakes! I would do Freddy 9, you know? Or I would do Freddy vs Michael Myers. Or I would do a prequel.”
