With hits like Ted and duds like A Million Ways to Die in the West, Seth MacFarlane has proven himself to be one of Hollywood’s most unpredictable filmmakers when it comes to feature films.

But on television? Well, that’s a different story. Family Guy has been running for so long that it’s hard to remember a time that it wasn’t on the air, and it’s a merchandising machine, with toys, clothing and everything else you can think of cluttering up malls and big box stores for nearly a decade now.

So, of course, the question often comes up: when will Family Guy go for a big-screen adaptation, like The Simpsons and Aqua Teen Hunger Force before it?

Today, MacFarlane gave one fan a potentially exciting answer on Twitter…

Of course, the family from Quahog has seen feature-length action before: In 2005, MacFarlane and FOX released Family Guy Presents Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story, a direct-to-DVD feature film that centered on the idea that Stewie believed himself to be adopted and set out in search of his real father.

That 88-minute film was later cut down to be three 22-minute episodes of Family Guy Season Four, and airs that way in syndication. The full, 88-minute cut is no longer in print on DVD but was a best-seller so used copies are widely and cheaply available. It remains available via streaming services as well.
