Sony has announced an official release date for Sinister Six, which will focus on a group of Spider-Man villains. As most had predicted, Sony will be releasing Sinister Six ahead of the Amazing Spider-Man 3, which will likely enable the studio to tell the origin story of the villains coming together before a showdown with Spider-Man in The Amazing Spider-Man 3.

The Sinister Six movie will be released on November 11, 2016. Drew Goddard will be writing and directing the film, and Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach will be producing.
“With Sinister Six in the hands of writer-director Drew Goddard, we feel extremely confident placing the film on a prime date in 2016,” said Doug Belgrad, who is president of Sony Pictures Entertainment Motion Picture Group.
After the Sinister Six, the next film in the Spider-Man franchise will be The Amazing Spider-Man 3. Sony originally announced a June 10, 2016 release date for The Amazing Spider-Man 3, but they have pushed the release date back to an unspecified date sometime in 2018.
In addition to the two Spider-Man franchise movies, Sony also announced that Uncharted will take the Amazing Spider-Man 3’s old release date of June 10, 2016. Uncharted is an action/adventure movie based on the PlayStation video game series about treasure hunter Nathan Drake.
