The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part One took home the weekend box office crown again this week, while Thanksgiving holdovers Creed and The Good Dinosaur finished just behind new release Krampus.

Legendary Pictures’ horror-comedy starring Adam Scott and Allison Tolman was the biggest new release of the week with $16 million, behind an $18 million performance by Mockingjay and ahead of Creed‘s $15.54 and Dinosaur‘s $15.51 million hauls. SPECTRE rounded out the top five with a little under $6 million.
The Good Dinosaur fell by more than 60% in its second weekend, bringing its two-week total to $75 million and raising questions about whether it can make its money back domestically. The film was originaly expected to come in third, but a strong weekend by Creed seems to have knocked it down to fourth, unless weekend estimates are adjusted up for Dinosaur and down for the Rocky spinoff.
It’s rare that a Pixar film doesn’t win its opening weekend, although that was never really expected since the troubled production was opening so soon after Mockingjay. Still, the idea that it dropped to fourth in its second week and lost 60% of its opening take suggests it may not have legs as long as its studio-mates.
Also of note is the per-screen averages. The best numbers in that category actually went Krampus, Mockingjay, Creed, Dinosaur and then another new release opening on a smaller number of screens, Chi-raq.
