Over the weekend, The Lego Movie blew past the $100 million mark on its way to becoming the highest grossing movie of 2014 at both the U.S. and Worldwide box office. The Lego Movie is only the second movie released in 2014 to cross $100 million at the domestic box office. Ride Along was the first 2014 movie to accomplish the feat at the domestic box office, but while it took Ride Along 23 days to reach $100 million, The Lego Movie reached that mark in only nine days. For the second straight weekend, The Lego Movie ranked number one at the domestic box office, adding another $48.8 million to its total take. Through Sunday, The Lego Movie has grossed an estimated $129.1 million at the domestic box office. The film also leads the Worldwide box office with a total of $147.2 million. While The Lego Movie centers around an ordinary guy named Emmet, who is voiced by Chris Pratt, the movie also features appearances by a number of characters from the world of pop culture. Batman, as voiced by Will Arnett, plays a substantial and often hilarious role in the film. Warner Bros. has been so pleased by the success of the film that a sequel is already reportedly in the works.
