Tribes: The Dog Years Special Edition

The critically-acclaimed graphic novel, “Tribes,” is getting a deluxe hardcover reprint, courtesy of IDW Publishing.Tribes is written by Michael Geszel and Peter Spinetta and features art from Inaki Miranda, who has gone on to illustrate to Vertigo Comics series “Coffin Hill.””Tribes” is a post-apocalyptic epic set in a world where a virus limits all humans’ lifespans to 21 years. Now, teenagers lead the remnants of humanity through a world in shambles, but an old tale offers a new hope for survival. The new edition, “Tribes: The Dog Years Special Edition,” is designed in a “found relic” style that makes it look like it was created by the characters from the story, in their own world. The new edition also collects early art pages from Miranda, showing the work that went into designing the characters and world from concept to completion.”Two years after finishing my work on the book, the world of Tribes still lives in my head. That’s how strong this creation is and how powerful the characters are,” said Miranda. Geszel continued, “I’m thrilled with the new edition, especially the chance to show Inaki’s stellar pencil work in full pages and publish some marvelous concept designs of new characters.”Celebrated creator Paul Pope says “Tribes is like Mad Max by way of Disney. Inaki draws with a widescreen vision that jumps off the page.””Tribes: The Dog Years Special Edition” will be released this May.
