Verizon and Google have teamed up to offer a unique experience which hurls fans of the Star Wars franchise into an immersive, 360 degree take on Jakku of the Star Wars galaxy.

As of today, Verizon is distributing 200,000 custom Google Cardboard virtual reality viewers featuring four Star Wars character themes: BB-8, R2-D2, Stormtrooper, and Kylo Ren. They’re available exclusively in Verizon stores and once you have one, you can pair it with the Star Wars app to get started on your Jakku Spy mission.

Every couple of days leading up to the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, a new spy message will be available for download and exploration in the Star Wars app.

The app is available now and compatible with both Apple and Android phones. The messages are available for viewing without the Google Cardboard in a standard 2D format while allowing users to tilt and turn their phones for a similar experience.

Having experienced both versions of the virtual reality adventure, I can say it’s certainly worth downloading and trying out – just make sure you’re connected to Wi-Fi. The files are large! I also recommend the best pair of headphones you can get your hands on for an even more enhanced experience.

The Jakku Spy message number 1 is available now in the Star Wars app.
