While your pull list might already be full, there are plenty of books that are worthy of your attention this Wednesday, including the five books highlighted on this list. Whether the book is a great jumping on point, a big finale, or just something different than the predominant superhero fare, there’s something here for everyone.

Of course, there are more than five books worth your time this week, so here are a few runners-up that you should definitely check out if your wallet permits.

Secret Empire #4 is written by Nick Spencer with art by Rod Reis and Leinil Francis Yu and a cover by Mark Brooks. The official description is listed below.

Dark Days: The Forge #1 is written by James T Tynion IV and Scott Snyder with art by Jim Lee, John Romita Jr., and Andy Kubert, along with several others. Variant covers are provided by Romita Jr. and Kubert. The official description is listed below.

DARKNESS COMES TO THE DC UNIVERSE WITH THE MYSTERY OF THE FORGE! Aquaman, The Flash and more of DC’s pantheon of heroes suspect Batman of hiding a dark secret that could threaten the very existence of the multiverse! It’s an epic that will span generationsโ€”but how does it connect to the origins of one of DC’s most legendary heroes?

The great comics event of summer 2017 is about to begin courtesy of superstar writers Scott Snyder and James Tynion III and illustrated by a master class of comics artists: Andy Kubert, Jim Lee and John Romita Jr.! You do not want to miss this one!

Without further ado, here are the five big issues you should read this week!

Matt Mueller: Dragon Age: Knight’s Errant

Dark Horse continues to pump out some fantastic additions to the Dragon Age lore, and Knight Errant is no exception.

Centeringย around a thief named Vaea, Nunzioย DeFilippisย has created an intriguing character who would be right at home in Bioware’sย universe, and the ties introducedย to the Inquisition in issue #1 will please fans as well.

Dragon Age: Knight Errant #2 is written by Nunzioย DeFilippis and Christina Weir with art by Fernando Heinz Furukawaย and Michael Atiyehย with a cover by Sachin Teng. The official description is listed below.

BioWare’s best-selling fantasy franchise lives on in these canonical comics from Dark Horse!

Charter lays her offer on the table for elven thief Vaea: rescue our captured associates, and we’ll take care of the angry templar after you. Leery of the Inquisition and what it may stand for, Vaea rejects the offer . . . but quickly regrets it once Ser Nevin shows up, furious and looking for a fight!

Russ Burlingame: Tomboy #11

Things have been building towards a powerful confrontation, and it all comes to a head in Tomboy #11. As with everything in this book though, not everything is as it seems, and you can assume things will get a little messy.

Tomboy #11 is written by M. Goodwin with art by Michelle Wong. The official description can be found below.

The death of a childhood friend sparks a series of events that lead Addison from teenage field hockey player to a murderer of criminals. There’s no lack of targets for her in a city built on corruption, but payback doesn’t come for free. Addison’s reality begins to blur in the pursuit of vengeance and justice is used as justification to become a monster.

Warren lures Irene to the courthouse determined to find out what happened to his daughter, Jessica. Irene isn’t impressed with the trap he’s set for her, however, as Fate pulls all the major players together for one last showdown.

Jamie Lovett: Defenders #1

Marvel’sย premier team from their Netflixย universe will now make their prescence felt in the comics with Defenders #1.

This seems like a dream project for Brian Michael Bendis, as he’s always loved Luke Cage and Jessica Jones, and with the lovely artwork of David Marquez (the best part of Civil War II), the book couldn’t be in better hands.

Defenders #1 is written by Brian Michael Bendis with art by David Marquez. The official description is located below.

Daredevil! Luke Cage! Jessica Jones! Iron Fist! Individually, these four heroes have been on the front lines of the battle to keep the streets of the city safe and secure! But now, with a deadly enemy from the dim past making a major move to unite the underworld, they will need to become more โ€” they will need to become DEFENDERS!

J.K. Schmidt: Space Riders

ย The Space Riders are used to going where others won’t and in fact, it’s sort of become their calling card. That said, the Omega Structure is a whole different ball game, a place described as “a place where Gods go to die”.

Yeah, not exactly brochureย worthy is it.

Space Riders: Galaxy of Brutality #2 is written by Fabian Rangel Jr. with art by Alexis Zirittย and Ryan Ferrier. The official description can be found below.

Colonel Conley is training new recruits when he receives a transmission from a long lost friend. The SPACE RIDERS have to get their sh** together and find the source of the signal. It leads them to the OMEGA STRUCTURE, the place where GODS GO TO DIE! Prepare yourselves as best you can for THE LAST TRANSMISSION OF MARGARITA PELIGRO!

Charlie Ridgely: Martian Manhunter and Marvin The Martian

The Looneyย Tunes and heroes of the DC Universe don’t seem like the easiest fit, but if there was a match made in heaven it would be this one.

Everyone’s favorite Martianย superhero meets the most popular Martianย ever in DC’s Martian Manhunterย and Marvin The Martian. Things are going to get chaotic, to say the least, but in the best way possible.ย

Martian Manhunter and Marvin The Martian #1 Special is written by Frank Barbiere and Steve Orlando, with art by Jerome K. Moore and Aaron Lopresti.ย The backup story is written by Jim Fanning with art by John Loter. A variant cover is provided by Stephen DeStefano. You can find the official description below.

Martian Manhunter tries to halt Marvin the Martian’s determination for world domination. J’onn is conflicted with his own Martian identity as he attempts to stop the hapless, determined Marvin from blowing Earth to bits in order to gain a clear view of Venus. And the bonus Looney Tunes backup story features DC characters written by Jim Fanning with art by John Loter!
