6 Best Red Hood Team Ups (That Aren’t the Bat Family)

Red Hood is the problem child of the Bat-Family. He caused Batman headaches when he assumed the mantle of Robin, and then again when he came back for bloody revenge against the Joker after he was resurrected. Despite being a part of the Bat-Family, Jason Todd’s ideals clash with that of Batman’s, especially when it comes to use violence and guns. Red Hood is not afraid of taking care of problems in an ugly way and is not bothered with taking care of issues in a permanent way.

Despite his rough nature, Red Hood has teamed up with various characters outside of the Bat-Family. This shows that while he would rather take care of things on his own, he is willing to form alliances when he needs help. This has happened a few different times and shows that even Jason Todd needs backup every once in awhile. He may work better on his own, but can get along with others when the need to is there.

6) Outlaws (Vol. 2)

The second volume of Red Hood and the Outlaws sees Jason Todd team up with Artemis and Bizarro. This team helped show Red Hood’s softer side, which is seen through actions that include the anti-hero buying Bizarro a Superman doll. Similar to the first version of the Outlaws, this series did a good job of showing that Jason can play well with others before he bacame a part of the Bat-Family again. It helped Red Hood go from a loner to a team player.

5) Outsiders

Red Hood’s team up with the Outsiders shows that he will do what he has to in order to get the job done, even if it means joining with others rather than going solo. In Batman: Legends of Gotham #1, Jason Todd partners up with Black Lightning and Katana in order to take down Leviathon after they recover Batman’s intel on the superhero community. While readers still get the typical Red Hood sass, it is still a fun ride watching Jason Todd play nice enough to join the group.

4) Supergirl

Supergirl and Red Hood have teamed up more than once. The first time was in Batman/Superman Annual #1 when the two end up on Warworld. They then form a duo when Jason Todd needs help stopping someone who is peddling alien weaponry to street gangs in Supergirl #35. The two do well together, despite Supergirl disliking “bad boys.” It was a good team up, and shows a truly moral and altruistic character come together with a violent anti-hero as they put aside their differences in order to work with each other. It shows that even heroes with severly different outlooks can come together to bring about justice.

3) Outlaws (Original)

The original Outlaws were the prime team that Jason Todd was a part of. The group consisted of Red Hood, Starfire, and Roy Harper, a.k.a. Arsenal. The trio had their own comic book entitled Red Hood and the Outlaws that saw the group doing good despite their pasts. The book sees Red Hood leave Gotham and follows him as he establishes himself as an anti-hero. Red Hood and the Outlaws does a good job of showing the fact that Jason can play well with others, and helped give him a group of friends that he vibes with really well.

2) Ravager

In Batman/Catwoman: The Gotham War – Red Hood #2, readers see Red Hood form a team with Ravager, a.k.a. Rose Wilson, the daughter of Deathstroke. This alliance is a precious one, especially since Rose confesses that Jason Todd is her only friend and even asks him to take care of himself. This is one of the sweetest team ups that comic book fans see Red Hood become a part of, as both characters are rough around the edges and have a hard time forming teams. It helped show a softer side to Jason Todd, one that is not seen often.

1) Donna Troy

“Countdown to Final Crisis” saw Red Hood team up with former Wonder Girl Donna Troy. The two had the potential to be a romantic couple, but Jason Todd’s villainous nature never let the two be together. During the “Countdown to Final Crisis” event, we see that Jason was capable of actually caring for others and that he could potentially fall in love. While things did not work out romantically for Donna and Jason, it was still fun watching the two of them navigate through the event.
