Will the real vigilante please stand up?

When it comes to Arrow, the hit series has had its fair share of rogue vigilantes. The show often refers to Green Arrow as 'The Hood' or 'The Vigilante,' and Season 5 will see other crusaders join in on the illegal fun. But the show will soon have to find news names for these other characters to avoid any undue confusion. After all, the show is bringing on the actual Vigilante and Marc Guggenheim has just dropped a teaser about the character's appearance.

Taking to Twitter, the executive producer posted a photo of a police sketch drawn by George Pérez. The artist, who acted as the original penciler for Vigilante in 1983, created the easter egg for the Season 5 premiere of Arrow.

"Thanks to George Pérez, who graciously provided this 'police sketch' for Arrow's 5th Season Premiere," Guggenheim wrote.

Of course, fans already knew Vigilante would be coming to Arrow. News broke that the character has joined the show in June when Deadline reported Josh Segarra had nabbed the role.

The actor will be playing Adrian Chase, just one of many who have taken up the moniker of Vigilante. Created by Marv Wolfmann, the character debuted in New Teen Titans as a brutal vigilante seeking justice after his family was murdered by the mob. The CW has described the Chase as "Star City's new district attorney" who allies with Mayor Oliver Queen. The character will "clean up the streets through the legal system," and eventually start knocking heads later in the season.

Vigilante won't be the only vigilante on Season 5 of Arrow. Wild Dog, played by Rick Gonzalez, will appear. The ex-marine embraces his violent vigilante status after the women he loves is gunned down, leading him on a path to vengeance. Determined to rid the streets of thugs, Wild Dog becomes one himself and brutally bashes any baddies who get in his way.

At face value, it would seem like Vigilante and Wild Dog are characters cut from the same angry cloth - but they do have their differences. Vigilante is considered a more complex character as Chase struggles with his horrific actions and often swears to stop suiting up. However, the character begins to experience trigger-happy fits of paranoia which cripple Chase, eventually leading him to commit suicide after his guilt threatens to destroy him.

With Arrow set to return to The CW next week, fans can expect to see more of Green Arrow, Vigilante, and more. The series will be joined by other superhero series like The Flash, DC's Legends of Tomorrow, and Supergirl this fall. A special event will see the four series team-up to honor the network's annual crossover events.

Arrow will return on October 5, 2016. The Flash premieres a day earlier on October 4, 2016 while Supergirl comes back on October 10, 2016. DC's Legends of Tomorrow will return for Season 2 on October 13, 2016.
