On Monday, during a Facebook Live interview, Ben McKenzie revealed he's going behind the camera to direct an upcoming episode of Gotham.
"There will be another Gordon family member that will be introduced, so I can tease that," McKenzie told TV Guide Magazine. "Actually, that's part of the episode that I get to direct."
McKenzie is referring to is James's estranged uncle, Frank Gordon. On Tuesday, it was reported that James Remar (Django Unchained, The Warriors) will portray the character, who is described as "a master at double-teaming and knows how to keep a secret safe."
Though McKenzie has been shadowing directors for years and almost directed an episode of Southland, the Gotham episode he'll helm — taking place in the second-half of this season — will mark his directorial debut. "Yes, my first time ever directing," he said. "I'm so excited. I start prepping right before Christmas and start shooting right after. So, very soon. I'm reading the outlines right now."
As the virus begins to spread in Gotham, the laboratory that is developing a cure is compromised. Mario and Gordon face off before the wedding, Selina meets an unexpected face and Barbara comes to Nygma with information about Isabella.
