The great thing about art is that it continues to evolve and get more refined as an artist’s career continues, and thus is the case with John Gallagher.

His work was covered as part of this segment previously, but now that some time has passed he’s been able to add some new pieces to his catalog, and his rendition of Supergirl was good enough to warrant a second look.
It’s not an official piece from the show, but good luck trying to tell the difference. It’s a spot-on interpretation of Melissa Benoist’s Supergirl, and could easily be mistaken for a photo from the set. The sunlight bounces off of her costume and cape so beautifully, and his rendition of National City in the background isn’t any slouch either, and the piece isn’t even done yet.
Gallagher recently added a Link to his portfolio as well, and it’s equally splendid. The texture work on his costume, especially the leather on his various belts and straps, is phenomenal. He says in the caption that up next is a showdown with Ganondorf, which should be equally as good.
Gallagher, who also goes by Uncanny Knack, has worked in the art profession since 1996 when he landed a job at the roleplaying powerhouse, Bioware. He worked as the Director of Concept Art for eight years, and then went on to work on projects like Falling Skies, Once Upon A Time, Defying Gravity, and the beloved CW series The Flash.
He uses a combination of digital and analog processes to create his work, and you can view more of it on his official website. If you prefer to follow him on Deviant Art, he publishes new work as well as updates to his previous pieces there regularly. You can also find some examples of his work in the gallery.
