DC Comics have been on a roll with their TV programming over the last few years, as shows like Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, and Gotham garner a massive amount of fans each week.
These are all quality shows, without a doubt, but there's one that finds a way - week after week - to stand out above the rest.
Of course, we're talking about Legends Of Tomorrow.
You may disagree, and that's okay. but take a second to think about this. Throughout each part of the Legends story, it continues to surprise fans and rise to new levels.
Take a look through the slideshow for a few reasons why Legends Of Tomorrow deserves a little more respect, and a higher ranking than its CW counterparts.
Sure, Arrow has formed his own team on his show, but that's nothing more than a part of the plot. Legends totally revolves around the concept of a team.
Part of the reason many people prefer team sports to individual ones, is that watching a team operate together can be so much more intriguing. Each individual has to possess the qualities of a solo competitor, but also work to lift their teammates up.
This element adds so much to a television show as well, and it keeps viewers entertained as they watch the group strengthen and argue in each episode.
Having a multitude of characters also helps you keep from being burnt out on any one in particular. If you're tried of what Heatwave is up to, Ray Palmer and Firestorm are completely different entities that you can focus on. When you're sick of Barry Allen of Oliver Queen - well, you just have to suck it up.
The other DC shows focus on properties that have worked for the comics for years. The Flash is one of the most popular Justice League members in history - and that helped grab viewers early on.
However, the use of such important characters can take away from the shows sometimes. You'll have fans arguing that "that's not what the character is really like," and you'll be able to reference popular comic storylines to guess what will happen next.
With these lesser-known characters, it's full of surprise. The writers and actors have more freedom with the creation of their adaptation, and you're always left guessing with big storylines.
Incredibly Interesting Premise
While taking care of your city is important, trying to save the timeline is a much more exciting mission.
By utilizing an important element like time travel, Legends finds a way to keep the story fresh each and every week. They also have an automatic way to enter any of the other CW shows, using the timestream.
Time travel can be stale, but this series is proving that it can be done well, over an extended period of time.
Brilliant Use Of Different Time Periods
Speaking of time travel, Legends uses it as a driving narrative force, instead of a crutch. The show also utilizes time as a way to bring in some of the most interesting periods in our history.
By visiting the wild west, 2046, Pleasant Valley, and so many other times, Legends keeps fans on their toes. This also helps build hype around new storylines that are coming up. The Jonah Hex story had fans excited beforehand, because the western setting hadn't been seen before. The same goes for the new story arc featuring George Lucas - it hasn't been done.
If you haven't given Legends Of Tomorrow much of a chance yet, you should re-think your decision. It gets better with each episode, and it's quickly becoming the best DC property on TV today.
