Even though the pilot was filmed in Los Angeles and the show itself is set there, the majority of Lucifer's first two season have been filmed in or around Vancouver. However, for its third season (renewed a month ago), FOX has decided to move production to the City of Angels.
"I hear Lucifer had been submitted in California Film Commission’s most recent round of TV project applications where priority is given to relocating series," reports Deadline. "Likely to strengthen the show’s submission, Fox renewed Lucifer for a third season on Feb. 13, in the middle of the Feb. 10-Feb. 17 tax credit application window, with a full-season 22-episode pickup."
Lucifer may not receive the same attention as Gotham, its Monday lead-in, but both are averaging a 1.1 adults 18-49 rating in Live+Same Day and 1.9 in L+7.
Lucifer is the story of the original fallen angel. Bored and unhappy as the Lord of Hell, Lucifer Morningstar abandoned his throne and retired to Los Angeles, where he has teamed up with LAPD detective Chloe Decker to take down criminals.
Lucifer is produced by Warner Bros. Television, in association with Jerry Bruckheimer Television. The series is based on characters created by Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth and Mike Dringenberg for DC Entertainment’s Vertigo imprint. Tom Kapinos (Californication) wrote and executive-produced the pilot. The series is executive-produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman, Ildy Modrovich and Joe Henderson.
The regular cast feaures Tom Ellis as Lucifer, Lauren German as Chloe, DB Woodside as Amenadiel, Lesley-Ann Brandt as Maze, Kevin Alejandro as Dan, Scarlett Estevez as Trixie, Rachael Harris as Linda Martin, Tricia Helfer as Charlotte, and Aimee Garcia as Ella.
Lucifer airs Mondays at 9:01-10:00 PM ET/PT on FOX.
