The CW has released the first four promitional images for “LaWanda: The Book of Hope,” the second episode of their forthcoming DC Comics adaptation Black Lightning.

The series premieres on January 16, and the second episode centers on a woman (the titular LaWanda) whose child is missing. Since Black Lightning’s civilian identity is Jefferson Pierce, school principal, this is a crisis that has the potential to involve both parts of his life.

Black Lightning centers on Jefferson Pierce. He made his choice: He hung up the suit and his secret identity years ago, but with a daughter hellbent on justice and a star student being recruited by a local gang, he’ll be pulled back into the fight as the wanted vigilante and DC legend Black Lightning.
Black Lightning will premiere on January 16th at 9 p.m. ET/PT on The CW, following the midseason premiere of The Flash.
