Ever since Zack Snyder first unveiled the promotional image of Jason Momoa as Aquaman, we’ve been eagerly awaiting production of the film to begin—which brings us one step closer to actually watching the film.
Now James Wan has begun shooting on the film Aquaman in Queensland, Australia, telling the story of the superhero from Atlantis and turmoil in his underwater kingdom.

A few of the film’s stars have been heavily preparing for the intensive stuntwork required for the superhero action film—including Momoa himself—and now the main villain joins the fray alongside the Atlantean who would be Queen.
Amber Heard, who will be starring as Mera, just posted a series of photos to her Instagram account detailing another work out session. This time she’s joined by co-star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II of the Get Down, who will be portraying Black Manta in the movie.

Mera will cameo in Justice League but will take on a heavier role in the Aquaman solo movie. Abdul-Mateen II’s character is Aquaman’s fiercest villain and will likely feature prominently the film.
These two are likely involved in a lot of exercise to prepare for their roles in the film, as it seems to be an action spectacle befitting the DC Comics cinematic universe.

Aquaman is also starring Patrick Wilson, Nicole Kidman, Willem Dafoe, Temuera Morrison, and Dolph Lundgren. The movie is scheduled to hit theaters December 21, 2018. But before we can focus on that, we get to see Momoa’s Aquaman appear in Justice League.
Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat.
