Aquaman is shaping up to be an epic movie, pitting Arthur Curry between the deadly Black Manta and the forces lead by his brother King Orm AKA Ocean Master. After seeing glimpses of Orm’s Atlantean army in previous set photos, we finally have a closer look at the high-tech infantry in the movie.

The photo posted on social media shows a powerful exo-suit covering the soldier, with pronounced features on the back that are likely used to propel and accelerate movement while submerged in water.

This design in particular looks very similar to Phil Bourassa’s designs for the Atlantean army in the Flashpoint animated movie.
The blue screen looks to be similar to what’s used on the rooftop set in Australia โ so this could be in the same location as the photos of Mera running from soldiers.
Aquaman is not yet the King of Atlantis in the new movie โ that title is held by Orm. The San Diego Comic-Con footage showed an army of Atlantean vessels traveling through the ocean, and star Jason Momoa later clarified that those forces belonged to Orm.
It looks like Aquaman is taking on the might of the Atlantean army, but for what purpose? And how will Black Manta play into the conflict? And will the film end with Aquaman becoming the King of Atlantis, a title he’s often held in the comics?
We’ll find out when Aquaman premieres December 21, 2018.
Aquaman also stars Amber Heard (Justice League, Magic Mike XXL) as Mera; Oscar nominee Willem Dafoe (Platoon, Spider-Man 2) as Vulko; Temuera Morrison (Star Wars: Episode II โ Attack of the Clones, Green Lantern) as Tom Curry; Dolph Lundgren (The Expendables films) as Nereus; Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (upcoming Baywatch, Netflix’s The Get Down) as Black Manta; with Patrick Wilson (The Conjuring films, Watchmen) as Orm/Ocean Master; and Oscar winner Nicole Kidman (The Hours, Lion) as Atlanna.
