The Season 2 finale of The Flash, "The Race of His Life," was a true game changer for the series. After losing his father to serial killer speedster Zoom, Barry Allen went back in time and saved his mother from being murdered by the Reverse-Flash. This act has completely rewritten the timeline, creating the "Flashpoint" universe.
But The Flash is not a show that exists in a universe of it own. It shares a universe with the other DC Comics television series on The CW. Naturally, fans have wondered how the "Flashpoint" will effect these other series, especially Arrow.
"Some impact, but you'll have to tune in to actually see what it is," Executive Producer Wendy Mericle teased to TV Line during a cast interview at Comic-Con International: San Diego 2016. "It's been out there and discussed. I will say that it will have a big impact on the characters that it does have an impact on."
Well, that's...vague. We've already seen how drastically the cast of The Flash has been altered by the Flashpoint in The Flash Season 3 trailer, but the Arrow Season 5 trailer didn't show any changes nearly so severe.
Flashpoint was a DC Comics that drastically rewrote the history of the DC Universe. When Barry Allen realized he was responsible for causing it, he set to making things right and ended up causing the creation of DC's New 52 Universe.
We'll have to wait for The Flash Season 3 premiere on Tuesday, Oct. 4 and the Arrow Season 5 premiere on Wednesday, Oct. 5 to find out the full extent of the Flashpoint effect.
