Warner Brothers has released a new trailer for the Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice DVD and Blu-ray release, the "Ultimate Edition" of the film that bears an R Rating and DC's new logo.
The home edition, which will also come to Digital HD and Ultra HD Blu-ray (4k) hits stores July 19, 2016 (Digital HD comes early, on June 28). The home release features an extended cut that runs 182 minutes (that's 30 minutes of extra footage), with the Rated R version gaining that rating for increased sequences of violence - what exactly that entails is unknown, but even a bit of pooled blood can change a rating from PG-13 to R in the US ratings system. Jena Malone's cut role from the theatrical cut will make its way into the movie, as well.
Batman v Superman's various flavors include: Ultra HD Blu-ray combo pack at $44.95, Blu-ray 3D Combo Pack $44.95, Blu-ray Combo Pack $35.99, 2-disc DVD Special Edition $28.98. The Ultimate Edition cut can be found on the Ultra HD Blu-ray disc, the 2D disc in the 3D combo pack, and one of the two 2D discs in the regular Blu-ray combo pack. The DVD edition is only the standard definition theatrical cut. Combo packs include a digital copy of the ultimate edition as well.
The trailer plays up the sense of "gods" more and features a lot of brand-new footage, which may play into another character cut from the theatrical release, one of the New Gods of Apokolips who is likely to show up in Justice League. Of course, aside from the extended cut, the home release will also include several special features:
- Uniting the World's Finest
- Gods and Men: A Meeting of Giants
- The Warrior, The Myth, The Wonder
- Accelerating Design: The New Batmobile
- Superman: Complexity & Truth
- Batman: Austerity & Rage
- Wonder Woman: Grace & Power
- Batcave: Legacy of the Lair
- The Might and the Power of a Punch
- The Empire of Luthor
- Save the Bats
The home release also features a newly remastered Dolby Atmos soundtrack made specifically for home theater systems, so get ready to rock your home with those senses-shattering sounds.
