Colton Haynes, best known for his roles on Arrow and Teen Wolf, will join an ensemble cast including The Avengers's Scarlett Johansson and Ghostbusters's Kate MicKinnon for Rock That Body, Deadline reports.
Lucia Aniello (text) is diecting the film from a script from Aniello and Paul W. Downs. The film is currently in production with an eye toward a June 2017 release date. Rock That Body is the feature film debut for Aniello, best known for her work on Broad City. She also directed the miniseries Time Traveling Bong.
Haynes has been rumored to return for Arrow's fifth season, but recently producers clarified that there are no current plans. It's possible that Haynes knew that he would have to work around a feature film's schedule and that he would be better off not agreeing to any guest appearances until and unless he was wrapped on the movie.
Deadline describes Rock That Body as an R-rated, female-driven comedy that centers around a group of friends who make plans for a raucous weekend bachelorette party at a beach house -- but things quickly spin out of control. The film will also feature appearances by Ty Burrell, Demi Moore, Jillian Bell, Ilana Glazer and Zoe Kravitz.
The San Andreas star left Arrow at the end of Season Three, later citing mental health issues that caused him severe anxiety while performing. He's been mostly lying low since, although he did make a guest appearance in Season Four. His character had been written out by faking his death, but none of the central cast believe him to be dead.
