Warner Bros. producer Chuck Roven recently sat down with THR to talk about the upcoming team flick, but he also spoke of the key differences between the two films.
"Wonder Woman is an origination story, so the whole dynamic and the plot moves are different than other DC movies. There's also a great relationship between her and the guy [played by Chris Pine] who crash-lands on her island and is the trigger mechanism for her going back to man's world."
While the narrative frameworks for the two will be distinctly different, the two do share some similarities as well. Seemingly in response to the dourness of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, the current DC output has featured substantial amounts of levity. It can be seen in both the Wonder Woman trailer (with Etta Candy and Chris Pine) and the interactions of the Justice League in theirs.
In Justice League, fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
Justice League is directed by Zack Snyder, from a screenplay by Chris Terrio, and features an ensemble cast that includes Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Ciarán Hinds, Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Jeremy Irons and Jesse Eisenberg.
