The next film in the Batman Unlimited series of direct-to-video animated features is one of those things you didn’t know you needed until you see it. Similar to the robotic bat-suits revealed in the pages of Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo’s Batman comic from DC Comics, Batman Unlimited: Mech vs. Mutants brings out the heavy weaponry – as in 20 tons heavy. As revealed in the exclusive first trailer above, the new movie sees Gotham’s worst villains go all Kaiju on the city, and Batman and Green Arrow team-up to cancel that particular apocalypse.

We can also officially announce the film will hit DVD on September 13, 2016, but fans who are attending Comic-Con in San Diego don’t have to wait nearly that long; Batman Unlimited: Mech vs. Mutants will have its world premiere at the annual nerdfest on Sunday, July 24.
The Batman Unlimited series has used youtube shorts and full-length features to introduce fans to a new version of the caped crusader, with two films previously released, Animal Instincts and Monster Mayhem. Living in its own continuity, the series, along with a toy line from Mattel, has given kids an accessible (and heavily accessorized) version of Batman and the DC Comics world. And with giant-sized villains and massive mech suits in this film, well, it’s a safe bet you’ll be wanting to watch the toy shelves for something similar in the near future, as well.
