These days, it feels like Gotham has more than enough villains to keep its underbelly thriving for years. Without Batman around to clean the streets, baddies like the Riddler and Penguin have managed to grip the city whilst Bruce Wayne comes to terms with his future vigilante goals. The hit drama has a clear focus on its villains, but that doesn’t mean heroes are banned from the spotlight. Actor David Mazouz is beginning to explore Batman‘s humble origins on Gotham, but the star hopes his hero isn’t the only one who gets some screen time.

No; When it comes down to it, Mazouz hopes Gotham gets to rope in a bit of Superman at some point. And, if the Internet has anything to say, then that superhero crossover would lead to one intense ratings bump for Gotham.

Recently, Mazouz sat down for an interview with Movie Pilot, and the star opened up about which DC Comics character he’d like Bruce to work with. It was there the boy suggested Batman should meet with a young Clark Kent before either characters turn into full-fledged superheroes.

“I’d love for Bruce to interact with a young Clark Kent. Batman V Superman sets up Gotham and Metropolis to be twin cities kind of across the bay,” Mazouz said. “If that’s the case, then Clark Kent could take a boat across the bay and visit Gotham. I think that would be really cool.”

The idea is one which Gotham fans have dreamt about for years, so it is nice to see that Mazouz is on-board for the story. Still, there is one major hurdle preventing the crossover, and it comes down to licensing issues. Mazouz nodded to the legal snafu keeping Bruce from Clark, saying, “I’m sure it would obviously be a nightmare with licensing and such โ€” which is really annoying, I don’t know why they can’t just let us have our fun.”

“I think that could be a really cool interaction between the two of them and maybe, hopefully, it could happen before the show ends…. let’s make it happen!”
