Justic League: Cyborg Is The Third Motherbox, Confirmed

The latest issue of Total Film confirmed a theory stemming from Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice.

When details of the Justice League film first started trickling out, director Zack Snyder and producer Geoff Johns mentioned that the Motherboxes would be vital to the DC Film Universe’s mythology. Three exist on Earth: one for the Amazons, one for Atlantis, and the last for mankind.

Well, we saw Dr. Silas Stone attempt to save his son’s life with a couple fruitless attempts in a S.T.A.R. Labs facility, until he uses “US Gov Object 6-19-82.”


The device sparks to life, floats over to Victor Stone’s torso, and begins rebuilding his body while the kid screams in pain.

While it doesn’t take much to connect the dots, this report—coupled with quotes from Snyder—seems to confirm that mankind’s Motherbox and Cyborg are indeed one and the same.

So Cyborg isn’t just haphazardly thrown into the team mix, he is a vital part in the plot of the film.

The only other time we’ve seen glimpses of the Apokalyptian technology came in a deleted scene, in which Lex Luthor was meeting with a projection of Steppenwolf—the villain of the Justice League film.


The character clutches two Motherboxes while one floats in front of him, but quickly disappears when an squad of armed goons enters the room.

We’re not sure how significant the missing two Motherboxes will be when it comes to Darkseid’s plans, or if other Motherboxes exist beyond Earth, but they’re obviously the items to watch out for when Justice League hits theaters.

In Justice League, fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. Justice League is directed by Zack Snyder, from a screenplay by Chris Terrio, and features an ensemble cast that includes Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Ciarán Hinds, Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Jeremy Irons and Jesse Eisenberg.

Justice League hits theaters on November 17, 2017.
