New Justice League Footage Shown in Friends TV Spot

The new Justice League trailer officially dropped at New York Comic Con, but a new TV Spot just revealed some new footage of the highly anticipated film.

The “Friends” TV Spot starts out with a brief shot of Steppenwolf standing with his ax in hand in front of three massive explosions that are leaving fissures in the ground. The explosions are caused by three ships hovering in the sky, presumably vehicles from Apokolips.

Steppenwolf surfaces again later in the clip, descending to earth from what looks like a boom tube. This is likely a flashback, as his presence is met with a hail or arrows presumably from the Amazons.

There’s new footage of the heroes too, which is good news for fans of the budding friendship between Batman and Aquaman. When Aquaman lands on the Batmobile (somewhere later in the film), he says “dressed like a Bat. You really are out of your mind.”

Batman doesn’t miss a beat, dropping this gem. “I’m not the one who brought a pitchfork.”

Well done Bruce, well done.

You can find the new clip in the video above.

The new footage that is here heavily features Steppenwolf, who is a general of Darkseid in the comics. He’s also Darkseid’s uncle, but that part of their history is getting a rewrite according to a recent report by Geek Magazine.

“In Justice League, Batman and Wonder Woman, following Superman’s death in battling Doomsday, is intent on bringing together a team to take on Steppenwolf. This new menace is the nephew to Darkseid of Apokolips (presumably the big bad of the second JL adventure). Steppenwolf is on Earth to retrieve three Mother Boxes, one of which is now a part of Cyborg.”

Those three Mother Boxes were given to the Atlanteans, the Amazons, and the humans many years ago, but that last one accidentally surfaced, leading to its merging with Cyborg. Cyborg can later be seen carrying a Mother Box, but it isn’t known which one that is.

Fans can find out that mystery and more when Justice League lands in theaters on November 17.
