Justice League is going to place more importance on the team as a whole, but the film's production designer wants to ease your fears about losing the heroes individuality.
Production designer Patrick Tatopoulos spoke to EW about creating unique worlds for these beloved characters, regardless of whether you see much of them in the film (via Heroic Hollywood).
It turned out to be the most exciting part of the process for him, saying "The great thing about Justice League was more about: 'What is the palette for Flash's world? What is the palette for Wonder Woman's world? What about the world of Aquaman?'"
It was more intricate than just world building, though that was not a small undertaking. Each character has to have an authentic feel before the team can assemble, including an individual aesthetic.
"There's Flash as a guy, a regular dude. He's goofy, he's crazy, and his world is a world we should be able to relate to. And then you have the world of Wonder Woman, and I don't want to take too much credit for that: the movie has been done, beautifully designed and directed. But there is this ancient civilization, that's got it's own golden and bronze-y textures. There's Cyborg, who's a real man, so this world is a world you should be able to relate to, before he becomes what he has become."
That extends to Aquaman as well, a world that fans will fully get to experience in James Wan's upcoming solo film. Still, fans will get a taste of it in Justice League.
"You got Aquaman, underwater, there's those very deep greens. The movie is being done now, but we actually had to create a look for it prior to that."
The good news is that fans don't have much longer to wait before they can witness this beautiful world for themselves, as Justice League hits theaters this November. You can find the film's description below.
In Justice League, fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman's selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
