The road to Justice League has been affected by numerous setbacks, and with scrutinizing eyes picking apart very step along the way.

Between the director change and the amount of reshoots, coupled with the poor reception of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, the production of the film has not been without its issues. And producer Charles Roven knows that fact all too well.

“I’ve probably had a stiff drink along the way,” said Roven with a laugh, during an interview with the New York Times. “It’s been different in the sense that we’ve had some sadness along the happy-joy of making the movie. But for the most part it’s been an incredibly positive experience.”

With Zack Snyder having directed principal photography, then rewrites and additional photography being handled by Joss Whedon, Justice League will be a unique movie in that it meshes two distinct styles into one vision. The major question is, will fans notice?

“The goal is to make sure when you’re watching the movie, it all feels cohesive,” Roven said. “That imprint that Joss had, some aspect of it is going to come out in the direction, but the actors are already pretty much down the road on their arcs. Let’s just say 80, 85 percent of the movie is what was originally shot. There’s only so much you can do with other 15, 20 percent of the movie.”

Whedon is not receiving credit for his contributions as a director on the film, though he is being billed as a co-writer. Whedon was brought on to help liven up the script with his trademark wit even before the reshoots.

After Snyder’s family suffered a tragedy and the director stepped away from the film, Whedon was brought on to finish the additional photography. But as Roven indicated, Snyder had already finished a majority of the movie.

Despite all of the turmoil, there has been a lot of positive buzz surrounding the film, and it’s poised to make a lot of money at the box office.

We’ll find out how the film blends Snyder’s and Whedon’s work when Justice League premieres in theaters on November 17.
