Written by Chris Fedak & Sarah Nicole Jones, Legends of Tomorrow appears to be introducing the JSA in the season’s second episode. “The Justice Society of America” will be directed by Michael Grossman, and Lotz posted a short message along with her tweet. She wrote, “Justice Society of America! Who do you think we’ll see?!”
Fans are flooding the actress’ feed with replies, clamoring over which JSA member they’d like to see feature in the budding show. Legends of Tomorrow fans will of course remember how rumors began circulating about the JSA’s appearance after the series’ finale introduced Rex Tyler, AKA: Hourman. The well-known JSA member was sent back in time by Mick Rory to save the Legends team from dying in the finale’s showdown.
Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Executive Producer Marc Guggenheim discussed Hourman’s entrance, saying, “With his final words in the finale, he planted a pretty deep flag about where we’re headed in season two, which is not just introducing Hourman but introducing his teammates in the Justice Society of America. For comic book fans, everyone knows the Justice Society is really the precursor to the Justice League, so it’s a pretty big move in our DC universe here on TV.”
Obviously, DC die-hards are stoked to learn that the JSA’s appearance is now confirmed. Guggenheim, surely, must be relieved to find that DC Entertainment rightly entrusted Legends of Tomorrow with the superpowered team. He told THR, “God bless both the studio and the network. They’ve never said, ‘This is too big. You can’t do it. They have often said, ‘Jeez, this is so big, how are you going to do it?’ They say that a lot. They’re always asking us how the hell we’re going to pull something off. Inevitably, our answer is, ‘We literally have no idea. But we’ll figure out a way.’”
