A new official still from Wonder Woman has been released by Warner Bros. alongside the embargo lift from last year’s visit to the set of the film at WB Studios London. The image shows Wonder Woman in full costume, with her shield strapped to her back, on a ladder – without context, maybe not the most exciting image in the world, despite actress Gal Gadot looking stunning in the full outfit.

But thanks to our set visit, we have context for you! This is an absolutely pivotal scene in the film, the scene where Diana reveals herself to the world of man. In the midst of World War I, Diana and Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) gather a team together to try to take down Ares, the God of War and the secret instigator of this conflict. However, when they come to “No Man’s Land,” the land between trenches during the war, they’re at an impass. There’s nowhere for them to advance. That is, until Diana throws off her cloak, revealing her impressive costume. A few of them have seen her in some level of action before, but only in brief spurts. This is it.

Diana climbs the ladder out of the trench and into the open field of No Man’s Land. As she begins to walk across, she gets shot at, and begins deflecting the bullets with her gauntlets. As she begins to take ground, her team is inspired and begins to follow her. Wonder Woman leads the charge as her team, and eventually the whole of the assembled Allied Forces wind up going behind her, inspired by her leadership.

So while this still is “Wonder Woman on a ladder,” it’s also a turning point, and the start of the bulk of the action as Diana truly becomes Wonder Woman, this symbol of power and leadership and freedom for the world. Click the image below for the larger, hi-res, full image.

Wonder Woman, directed by Patty Jenkins and starring Gal Gadot as Diana, Princess of Themyscira, is in post-production now for a June 2, 2017 release.

Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot, Steve Trevor, played by Chris Pine, crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers…and her true destiny.
