Saturday Night Live is wrapping up its 42nd Season with four historic episodes, the first of which aired last night. These broadcasts mark the first time the show has been aired on the West Coast as it happens.

While the show does normally air live in the Eastern and Central timezones, they’re usually on a taped delay for the Pacific and Mountain periods.
Chris Pine will host the May 6 episode, joined by musical guest LCD Soundsystem. Pine will be promoting his role as Steve Trevor in Wonder Woman, set to open a month later.
Wonder Woman stars Gal Gadot as the titular character as she ventures from her home of Themyscira alongside Trevor, who accidentally crash lands on the island paradise, to stop the mythical god Ares from terrorizing humanity while the Great War rages on.
Trevor aids Diana Prince in her journey to defeat the God of War and the trailer seems to indicate it will reverse a lot of “damsel in distress” tropes that have dominated action films for over 40 years.

Though Pine has appeared on the show before to promote the new Star Trek series, this will mark the first time that the actor has hosted the show. The fact that it’ll be live across the country might add onto the pressure he could be facing, but we’re pretty excited to see his comedy chops in real time.
He’ll be followed by Melissa McCarthy on May 13 and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson who will host the season finale on May 20.
Hopefully we’ll get Wonder Woman and Star Trek sketchesโit’s always fun to see the sketch comedy show skewer nerdy franchises.
Wonder Woman will be in theaters June 2.
Wonder Woman currently has a 4.03 out of 5 ComicBook User Anticipation Rating, making it the ninth most anticipated upcoming comic book movie among ComicBook.com readers. Let us know how excited you are about Wonder Woman by giving it your own ComicBook User Anticipation Rating below.
