It looks like things are about to get frigid for Caitlin Snow on The Flash. The fan-favorite character has been having a rough time lately on the show ever since she discovered her newly developed meta-human abilities. Tonight, Caitlin will try to get to the root of her powers, but she'll have to meet with her icy mother to do so.

The CW has released a new clip from The Flash that shows Caitlin and her mother, Dr. Tannhauser, at the latter's laboratory. The two have gathered there to test out Caitlin's gifts and put them to the test. To do so, Dr. Tannhauser asks her daughter to freeze a molten piece of metal.

She says the experiment is meant "to test how your ability affects molecular motion."

"That shaft is solid tungsten and it's heated to over 2000 degrees centigrade. I want you to cool it down, and when you can do that, we can figure out the best way to help you - the best way with such little time."

Of course, Caitlin is able to solidify the liquid metal with her frosty powers - and her gifts were probably aided by Caitlin's cold relationship with her mother. The two are famously on bad terms with one another on the show, and this clip highlights their standoffish attitudes towards the other.

If you want to check out the synopsis for tonight's episode, then you can read it below:

"CAITLIN CALLS ON HER MOTHER FOR HELP WITH HER GROWING META POWERS — Desperate to understand what is happening to her, Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) visits her mother, Dr. Tannhauser (guest star Susan Walters), a renowned biomedical researcher, in the hopes that her mother can provide some answers about Caitlin's growing meta-human powers.

However, when Dr. Tannhauser treats her daughter like a test subject, Caitlin grows cold and brings up past wounds causing the two to have a major blowout. Meanwhile, after a mysterious new meta-human attacks Central City, Barry (Grant Gustin) tries to convince Julian (Tom Felton) to let him assist on the case."

The episode was directed by Kim Miles and written by Zack Stentz.
