E3 2017: Metro Exodus Announced During Microsoft Conference

One of the first games to be shown off during Microsoft's E3 conference was Metro Exodus, an upcoming game and an Xbox and PC title from developer 4A Games.

Shown in all of its 4K glory and opening with a Dostoevsky quote to set the mood, those who are familiar with the series could likely spot what it would be as the scripted player navigated through some ravaged tunnels while scavenging for ammo and resources amid the post-apocalyptic ruins. After taking some provisions from a long-dead corpse who no longer had any need for survival, a battle began as the protagonist fought off a strange mutation of a creature that looked like some combination of rat and wolf. Finding himself deep in a nest of the enemies with only a rough-looking, futuristic weapon to defend himself, a quick exit was made through a man hole to escape into the frozen wasteland.

The outside of the undergrounds wasn't much better, as it was all but destroyed with downed helicopters and destroyed buildings. Some stealth and a crossbow get the players through a few more fights until a massive enemy appears that prompts a quick ride on a zip line onto a train.

Metro Exodus is set to be the sequel to the previous game in the series known as Metro: Last Light, a game that came out in 2013. The first game in the series was called Metro 2033, a game that was released back in 2010.

The mind behind the Metro games, Dmitry Glukhovsky, mentioned at an earlier date that there might be confirmation of a new installation in the series, but this is the first time that we've been able to see any solid proof of the release.

For now, it has been said during the conference that the game would be available sometime in 2018. It's unclear whether or not the game will also be available for the PlayStation 4 at this time, but for now, it has been confirmed that the game will be released on both the Xbox One and for PC.
