Much has been said about Microsoft’s lack of exclusive titles in 2017, particularly following the unfortunate delay of Crackdown 3 into 2018. Setting aside indie games Cuphead, Microsoft’s exclusive lineup for the rest of the year is basically Forza Motorsport 7, Sea of Thieves, and, well, that’s about it. A rather sad state of affairs considering Microsoft is launching the Xbox One X this year.

Well, it seems Microsoft may have something else in its bag of tricks. As we head into Gamescom, several European retailers (like this one) have posted listings for a Microsoft-published Xbox One game named Codename Hollywood. You can check out a German listing for the game, below:
We can probably assume the game isn’t actually titled Codename Hollywood, it’s likely just a filler name, but could it hint at what the game’s about? Codename Hollywood doesn’t really scream Halo, Gears of War, or any other existing Xbox brand that I can think of – could we be looking at a new, exclusive, licensed title? The Xbox equivalent of Sony’s Spider-Man game?
Whatever Codename Hollywood is, it’s a full-price game, so it’s not an indie or something simple like Super Lucky’s Tale. Codename Hollywood also has an interim release date of December 31, 2017 – again, that’s a placeholder, but it does indicate this is probably a 2017 release. This keeps getting more and more interesting!
There’s a good chance we’ll find out more about Codename Hollywood today, as Microsoft will be holding a livestream Gamescom presentation at 12pm PT. Of course, WWG will be on top of all new Xbox info, including any new game reveals that may happen.
