You thought we were safe from Injustice 2 DLC speculation?! Think again! Ed Boon has sent out another tweet that’s sent the Injustice community and larger DC Comics community into a frenzy of renewed speculation and hype, and it’s all centered, believe it or not, around one of the most unpopular recent character reveals: Raiden.

Check out the tweet below, and then we’ll tell you how it connects to Raiden, and why everyone is getting so excited.

Black what?! Black who? Boon was obviously rattling off names here, so we’re expecting a “Black (something)” to fill in the blank at the end, either as a new character or as a premiere skin. The community at large seems to think that Black Lightning is an obvious choice.

It sounds like everyone is assuming that Black Lightning could be a premiere skin for Raiden, since they’ll obviously share a very similar moveset, canonically. A Black Adam skin wouldn’t be out of the question, but since there’s so much hype over the recent reveal of Fighter Pack 2, we assume that they would want to capitalize on Raiden’s debut. Raiden has also had a pretty hard time earning the hype and acceptance of fans, the majority of whom would have much rather seen another DC hero added to the roster. This way, we could get the best of both worlds.

There’s another less-celebrated DC character that this could be referring to, though.

Black Hand

The guys at NetherRealm Studios obviously have a love for the Lantern Corps. Green Lantern has been here since the beginning, and the original Injustice saw Sinestro. In Injustice 2 we have two different Green Lanterns to choose from, and Atrocitus is finally getting the love he deserves (just not at tournaments).

While many fans have been speculating that Sinestro might make an eventual return to Injustice 2, there’s a chance that the “Black” Ed Boon was referring to was Black Hand, a recurring villain and leader of the Black Lantern Corps. Black Hand’s over-the-top theatrics and ability to drain and use enemy powers would be the perfect excuse to use him as a Green Lantern — or, hell, even an Atrocitus — premiere skin! We just don’t know what would happen to Dex-Starr…

Which do you think is more likely?

Black Hand or Black Lightning?
