The Elder Scrolls has become legendary within the history of games, and a recent mod update intends to improve that legacy even more. A hefty update, posted over the holiday break on Steam, spruces up a multiplayer mod of The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind that one community has been working on and supporting for some time now. The update, outlined by David C., one of the two developers behind the "TES3MMP" project, who opened up by talking about what the update means as the mod updates work closer to version 0.7. "Although major version 0.7 will be an amazing step forward for TES3MP, its improvements to our scripting and networking systems have required rewriting those systems from the ground up, and that has been taking a realistic amount of time instead of the amount we were hoping for," he said. "It's fair to say that it has grown into our largest version ever."

If you're looking to get into the mod, the full post has plenty of info, but here are a few highlights on what the new update adds the ability to use any NPC animation or sound that fits your characters class and species, as well as fixing bugs that froze NPCs, fixing up scripting limitations on the game's different servers, and making the use of quick keys more convenient after a player leaves a server.

As for future updates, David C. highlighted what he had planned: "I'm going back to my original plan – from before the rewrite was started – of having some straightforward improvements to 0.6, though all of them will naturally be added to 0.7 as well.... the first of these are in the form of minor version 0.6.2, but 0.6.3 will also come out shortly."

You can check out the mod on Steam. The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind is out now for Xbox and PC.
