The PlayStation 5 has been one of the most popular consoles since its debut in 2020, and has seen an incredible number of acclaimed video games. Some of these have been console exclusives, while others have seen multiplatform releases. As the years go by, many PlayStation fans are turning their gaze to the future and the PlayStation 6. Sony has not provided much information regarding its next console, especially a release date, but some fans have theories about when the console releases based on upcoming games. Many of these video games are not expected to release on the PlayStation 5 and instead will wait for the launch of the PS5.

These are the types of games that developers pour years of work into. Ambitious titles that can define a generation. Games like these have long development cycles, whether this means each moment has been spent working on the game to improve it or it faced delays doesn’t matter. After these games were announced, players knew it would be several years before they were available to play.
3) Physint

Hideo Kojima is one of the most respected developers in the gaming industry, and fans know when he announces a game they’re in for something unique, ambitious, and unfortunately, years away. Physint seems like a throwback to the Metal Gear series, utilizing the action-espionage genre that fans best know Kojima for. Not much is known about the game, though a few actors have been revealed including Charlee Fraser, Ma Dong-seok, and Minami Hamabe. Robert Pattinson is alleged to be the protagonist, but there is no official confirmation of this.
One thing that is universally agreed upon is that Physint is likely several years out and most likely won’t be released until the PlayStation 6 launches. Even with the already established Decima Engine used in Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, fans probably won’t see this game anytime soon. Kojima Productions is juggling multiple projects at once, including OD: Knock, further hinting Physint is in early stages. There is no doubt the game will be something special when it releases, but fans should settle in for a long wait.
2) The Witcher 4

CD Projekt RED’s next project is The Witcher 4, and fans are understandably excited to see Ciri as the protagonist. Geralt’s chapter has largely come to a conclusion, though he may appear as a side character or mention. The studio has already shown fans a glimpse into the upcoming game’s world, giving a look at the scope and visuals. These are certainly impressive but leave fans with a fear about when The Witcher 4 will release.
CD Projekt RED have already set the expectation that The Witcher 4 will not release until 2027 at the earliest, meaning it could even be later. As a result, fans believe the game won’t launch on the PS5 and will instead aim for the PlayStation 6. Based on what we’ve seen so far, it is an ambitious title both graphically and mechanically. CD Projekt RED will likely want to ensure it gets the launch correct after what happened to Cyberpunk 2077, so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see it hold off until a stronger console is available.
1) Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet

Naughty Dog is best know for Uncharted and The Last of Us, so fans were naturally excited when it revealed a new IP. Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet shifts genres to a sci-fi spacefaring RPG that blends moral choices, religious themes, and Naughty Dog’s iconic gameplay. The concept trailer and brief bit of gameplay show an inspired world with the promise of a strong narrative led by actress Tati Gabrielle, who has responded to criticism regarding the game.
While not necessarily criticism, PS5 players are concerned Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet will miss the console and release on the PS6. At best, the title may release in the last span of the PlayStation 5 or be a dual release title. It’s hard to say exactly when the game release without knowing more about it. Looking at Naughty Dog’s history and the recent shut down of its online The Last of Us game may have opened up more development resources, but nothing is none for sure.
