Assassin’s Creed Origins Is Easily Beating Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate In Sales

We knew that Assassin's Creed Origins would be a nice return to form for the series when it arrived last month, and even noted how incredible the game is in our review. But little did we realize that it would actually set a huge new sales trend for the franchise.

Although the publisher hasn't revealed exact sales specifics for the game just yet, it's already made note that Origins has easily swept away the previous entry in the series, Assassin's Creed: Syndicate, by double the sales.

In case you forget, Syndicate, which came out in 2015, was the last "new" game to be released in the series before Ubisoft decided to take a break (though it did release The Ezio Collection last year to keep fans entertained). Origins proves that, by taking some time off with the series, that it could come back stronger than ever before.

The reveal came during Ubisoft's most recent earnings call, where the company noted that the game has been selling far better than Syndicate – to the tune of one hundred percent better. That's ridiculous – and it's only been available for ten days.

In addition, the game has been selling phenomenally both digitally and physically. Origins is currently showing at a sell-through of about 35 percent overall digital sales – a huge leap from the 15 percent Syndicate did when it sold.

Without specific sales numbers, it's hard to tell just how successful Origins will be in the long run, but the two-year wait has proven to be worth it, and Ubisoft may have found a new business model that works for the better. It seems to be doing well for other franchises, too. The company took a bit of a break from the Far Cry series after the release of Primal, only to come back strong with the announcement of Far Cry 5, which will be arriving in stores (and digitally) in February 2018.

We'll see what the future holds next for the Assassin's Creed franchise. But, for now, you'll enjoy the hell out of Origins, which is available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
