New Batman Arkham Game Leaked

A new Batman: Arkham game has leaked. It’s hard to believe sometimes, but it has been 16 years since the Batman: Arkham series debuted with the release of Batman: Arkham Asylum in 2009. What followed was one of the great trilogies in video game history, featuring 2011’s Batman: Arkham City and 2015’s Batman: Arkham Knight. There was also Batman: Arkham Origins in 2013, but this was not made by series developer Rocksteady Studios, so it’s often not considered and included as part of the core series. Likewise, there have been some VR games since then, but not a follow-up to Batman: Arkham Knight. Unfortunately, this is still no word of a proper Batman: Arkham Knight sequel, but rather there is word of another Batman: Arkham VR game.

More specifically, it looks like we are getting a Batman: Arkham Shadow sequel. Batman: Arkham Shadow is one of the aforementioned Batman: Arkham VR games that was released in 2024. Developed by Camouflaj and published by Oculus Studios, it is a sequel, in the narrative sense, to 2013’s Batman: Arkham Origins and Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate, made for Meta Quest 3 and Meta Quest 3S. And it was well received when it came out last year, as evidenced by its 85 on Meatcritic and it winning Best AR/VR Game at The Game Awards. It sold well too, at least for a VR game. Suffice to say, it’s not surprising to hear it’s getting a sequel.

Confirmed by Voice Actor

We don’t have official word of a sequel, but we have something close. What we have is the voice actor behind Commissioner Gordon in the game, Mark Rolston, saying a sequel is in the works. More specifically, Rolston said while speaking to Culture Combine about the “Batman Arkham Shadow VR game” that “we’re about to start another one of those.

When Will This New Batman Game Release?

The voice actor doesn’t provide any further details than what is above. However, we have a good idea of when this sequel will come out based on the developer’s history of previous releases, which reveals a four-year turnaround time between games. If this pattern holds, then this game will be out sometime around 2028.

A Proper New Batman: Arkham Game

Those not interested in VR Batman: Arkham games, there is good news. According to recent reports, there is a new proper Batman: Arkham game in the works at Rocksteady Studios, however, it is understood that this game is still very far away.
