We haven't heard too much about Microsoft's Crackdown 3 as of late, but with the Electronic Entertainment Expo right around the corner, it won't be too long before we hear something new about this major release.

However, one thing that the publisher did indicate is that it wouldn't just be released for Xbox One. In a tweet today, the company's official Crackdown Twitter account indicated that it would be joining the Play Anywhere program, which means it's coming to both Xbox One and PC.

"Crackdown 3 will indeed be a Play Anywhere title!" the company confirmed.

This is huge news, since Microsoft is trying in many ways to expand its Play Anywhere program for both Xbox One users and Windows PC fans. It's already seen a number of entries that are compatible across both formats, including Gears of War 4, Quantum Break, Killer Instinct and Forza Horizon 3, and adding a big, robust title such as this certainly doesn't hurt.

Play Anywhere not only allows for the play between the two different formats, but also allows gamers to get both versions for the same price. In addition, all save data, achievement data and other game progress is kept in the cloud, so you simply need to download your profile and get back to gaming. Plus, this could be huge for those looking to build up their multiplayer progress in the game, as they can play with different groups using the same profile.

Other titles will likely be announced for Microsoft's Play Anywhere program this year as well, including the heavily rumored Forza Motorsport 7 and whatever other titles the publisher looks to reveal at its E3 press conference this year. There's no word yet on how compatible it'll be with Project Scorpio, but it'd be crazy to leave it out of the program, considering its effectiveness.

We should have more information on Crackdown 3 in the weeks ahead, including just what kind of chaos you'll be able to take part in as you battle crime with your superpowered agent.
