The day is finally upon us … DayZ is finally making moves from Early Access and into a fully released title! Even better, the survival game is now confirmed to be making its grand debut on the Xbox One.

The team behind the shooter updated their blog with some exciting news for fans of the Early Access title, making 2018 off to a great start. The game has been in development for ages, with its player-base often joking that’s a “forever beta” game. Luckily, that joke is turning out to be false and the long-standing process is finally coming to a successful head. Lead Producer Eugen Harton had this to say in his blog post:

“As soon as the PC BETA is headed in a way we like, we’re still committed to bringing DayZ to Xbox, where we have a large community of gamers patiently (very patiently!) waiting for a truly hardcore online survival game. All of that will (and must) happen next year – meaning we’re just about to start what could possibly be the most exciting year for DayZ so far. In short: DayZ will be out of Early Access next year, and we’ll also finally deliver it to console players in 2018.”

When taking into account their previous timetables offered, he added: “Make no mistake: this commitment is done taking all of our previous scheduling mistakes into the account. We’re serious about it.”

“DayZ is a gritty, authentic, open-world survival horror hybrid-MMO game, in which players follow a single goal: to survive in the harsh post-apocalyptic landscape as long as they can. Players can experience powerful events and emotions arising from the ever-evolving emergent gameplay. There are no superficial tips, waypoints, built in tutorials or help given to players. Every decision matters, there are no save games, no extra lives, every mistake can be lethal. If you fail, you lose everything and you need to play again from the beginning with nothing but your wits, and your two hands. Fight the hostile environment, where every other player can be friend or foe and nothing can be taken for granted.”

The game is expected to leave Early Access and head to the Xbox One at an undisclosed date in 2018.
