Destiny 2 is a game that we all love very much — which is exactly why you’re hearing so many complaints about it right now. Spend more than 100 hours playing something, and its shortcomings will start to become more apparent. Right now, one of the biggest grievances that has more competitive Destiny 2 players grumbling is spotty respawn system in The Crucible.

It’s something we’ve all experienced in every shooter. You’re in the middle of an intense firefight, when suddenly you bite the bullet. You squeeze your controller in frustration, but it’s okay because the moment you respawn you’re going to sprint straight back to that choke point and get your revenge. At least that’s what you thought. Instead, the game decides to respawn you right next to a squad of enemies, who take you down seemingly before your respawn animation even has a chance to wrap up.
It’s infuriating, and it’s happening way too frequently in Destiny 2 right now, especially in the Iron Banner. Since you’ll mainly be playing Control, it’s very likely that you’ll encounter situations where your team only controls one out of the three capture points, and when you die, you’re very likely going to respawn by that point. If the enemy is approaching to take over, you’re out of luck.
Multiple users have chimed in on Reddit to submit some of their more frustrating spawn kill video footage.
Spawn Kill Highlights
This is the exact opposite of what we think of when we think of spawn killing. This lucky duck got taken out, and then immediately spawned behind his killer! This is the kind of spawn kill we’d love to get more of, to be honest, but it’s no less frustrating, and it shouldn’t be happening.
You guys couldn’t see it, but a few seconds before this gif starts, we saw this poor soul’s ship in orbit joining this game. This was literally how he spawned into this game, met be multiple enemy Guardians charging into the room, ready to slay.
Spawn Rampage
Watch this guy go on the ultimate rampage. Pay close attention as he approaches capture point B. After he takes out the hunter and the Titan, you’ll see that the Hunter gets spawned back in the exact same spot. After taking him out, again, he turns a corner andย both playersย spawn not 40 yards away, just in time to line up a few shots with the golden gun. That had to suck for them.
Always check those corners, Guardians. Obviously you never expect to be met with a golden ray of death upon exiting your spawn, but with spawn algorithms like these, it always pays to peek before you sprint!
Have you guys been experience frustrating spawn death issues in The Crucible and Iron Banner?
