The director of Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 has put fans at ease with new comments following concerns that many have had following the previous installment. While the second entry in the FFVII Remake trilogy, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, was very well-received critically, it didn’t end up reaching the heights that publisher Square Enix wanted sales-wise. As a result, some Final Fantasy fans believed that this underperformance could lead to Square potentially lowering the development budget for Part 3, which would lead to a compromised version of the game. Fortunately, these beliefs seem unfounded, as FFVII Remake Part 3’s director has now attempted to quell any concerns.

Speaking to Automaton, Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 director Naoki Hamaguchi said that fans shouldn’t worry at all that Rebirth’s underperformance commercially will impact the next game in the trilogy. Hamaguchi said that the release of Rebirth on PC has actually helped its sales quite substantially in recent months and that it is now doing “very well”. As for Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3, he added that development is continuing as planned and that most of the game is now in a playable state.
“I know some fans have expressed concerns, but please rest assured, weโll be able to deliver a proper, high-quality third installment,” Hamaguchi said. “Development is going extremely well, and the game is shaping up nicely. A lot of the content is already playable, and the gameโs direction and form are firmly set in place. Right now, the team is united around refining everything.”
When Will FFVII Remake Part 3 Release?

The biggest question that many fans have when it comes to Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 is, of course, that of its release date. Square Enix recently said that it has an internal launch date for the game already, but it’s not willing to share this info with fans just yet. Based on previous comments, though, it’s likely that Part 3 will arrive in either 2027 or 2028.
Assuming that this trajectory is met, it suggests that we could see FFVII Remake Part 3 for the first time in 2026. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth was shown off initially in 2022, which was nearly two years before its release in 2024. As a result, it would make sense for Square Enix to show off Part 3 about two years ahead of its own release as well. This wouldn’t only generate excitement amongst fans, but it would also allow the publisher to reveal the game’s official name and drop the “Part 3” placeholder that it is currently being used.
Regardless of when Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 arrives, Square Enix has already confirmed that it will be coming to PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, and PC platforms on a long enough timeline. Initially, though, the game could once again be exclusive to PS5. More details on this front should be shared once the game is properly revealed.
