A recent dev diary for Friday the 13th: The Game revealed that weather effects might be coming with future updates.

Following the revamping of Friday the 13th: The Game's website, IllFonic posted a developers update to the "News" section of the site to keep players updated on what's happening on their end. Part of the dev diary showed off some glimpses of upcoming Spring Break clothing content that showed several of the Counselors in their swimsuits, but one area that wasn't explicitly highlighted didn't escape keep viewers' eyes.

Within the dev diary, a shot of a computer that showed an overview of one of the maps under a "World Settings" editor had several options visible when it comes to changing the map. Spawn locations for critical items and features and win conditions such as escaping via the police could be seen, but one section simply titled "Rain" caught players' attention.

It's a small section on the side, so it'd be easy to miss if you weren't looking for it, but there's definitely a designated section for providing weather conditions that has several subsections to go along with it.

The subject of adding weather effects to the game, specifically rain, is nothing new since the game's release earlier this year. Friday the 13th fans have pointed out how integral rain is in many of the classic slasher films, something that would hold true for horror movies in general. While IllFonic and Gun Media are looking to add more maps as well as smaller variations of the current maps, adding weather effects to the matches would help diversify them even further.

While rain might be on the way to Friday the 13th: The Game matches, it's unclear how it'll affect the way that games play out. Players have suggested rain-associated changes in the past that included decreased visibility, a weaker grip for Jason, heightened indicators when Counselors run through puddles, and less control over outdoors movements, but the rain could be purely cosmetic instead of actually altering gameplay.

Rain or no rain, Friday the 13th: The Game has plenty of new content on the way through new DLC, updates, and bug-fixing patches that can all be seen through their new site.
