IllFonic released a hotfix for Friday the 13th: The Game to clean up post-patch issues that’s now live on the PlayStation 4 and PC.

The hotfix was announced recently after IllFonic and Gun Media addressed several points of concern with the most recent patch that left players dissatisfied. New window break animations, matchmaking, and several issues with Jason were just a few of the areas that were quickly patched after listening to players’ feedback.

With the hotfix going live within a day of it being announced, the quickness of the fixes was a welcome response considering the time between past patches that’s resulted in frustration at times. While the hotfix was indeed quick, not every system got it at the same time. PlayStation 4 and PC players currently have the update ready to download, but the Xbox One hotfix hasn’t been shipped yet. Joshua Gertz from IllFonic explained that there wasn’t currently an ETA for the Xbox One hotfix, but more information will be released as it’s available.

The full list of changes that come with the hotfix can be found here through Gertz’s initial post, but one of the biggest areas that was changed was the new window break animation that was undocumented in the most recent patch. Jason’s new animation required to smash windows was largely met with a negative response when it was added considering how much it slowed Jason down, but the hotfix didn’t remove the feature. Instead, it sped it up, so Jason will still have to smash each window during an animation, but it’ll move quicker.

“In my initial post I said we will likely roll it back and find a solution for the Jason’s that were more problematic,” Gertz explained to a commenter who asked about the decision to leave the animation in the game. “After we got more feedback and talked about it internally we decided to fix the problems with the change instead.”

The hidden door and cabin tree on Packanack have also been removed, and players will no longer see the names of certain textures displayed on cabin walls or rocks.

Friday the 13th: The Game’s hotfix is ready to download for PC and PS4 players with an Xbox One update on the way hopefully soon.
