These days, many games offer a live service element. From gachas to FPS games and beyond, older games are increasingly going offline as publishers decide not to host online servers for aging titles. Others are simply removing support from older consoles, such as Genshin Impact leaving PS4 but remaining available on newer devices. Now, PS4 and Xbox One gamers are about to lose two more games.

Recently, golf game fans got some bad news from 2K Sports. Via an email, players were informed that online support for two of its older golf games is shutting down come October 30th. The web pages for the games in question have also been updated with information about the impending sunsetting. The impacted games are The Golf Club 2019 Featuring PGA Tour and PGA Tour 2K21. Effective immediately, gamers will no longer be able to purchase additional currency for these games. But the remaining changes go into effect on October 30th.
What to Expect When 2K PGA Sports Games Go Offline

Luckily for sports game fans, The Golf Club 2019 Featuring PGA Tour and PGA Tour 2K21 aren’t vanishing completely. Players who already own the games will still be able to enjoy the standard, offline gameplay for the golf games. However, both titles have been removed from digital storefronts for PS4, Xbox One, and Steam. That means it is no longer possible to buy either game. And come October, all live service elements will be going away.
This means that the in-game stores will no longer be available starting October 30th. So if you have leftover currency in either game, you’ll want to spend it before that happens. As noted above, you won’t be able to buy any more in-game currency, so there’s no risk of accidentally topping off before the game shuts down.
In addition, all online game modes will go away. That means you’ll no longer be able to play online multiplayer with friends. Private matches and online matches with matchmaking, as well as local matches with friends, will be disabled. Players will also no longer be able to form Societies in either game. Presumably, sharing via the Course Designer will also go away, though it’s unclear if the existing library of community courses will remain.

Players will also not be able to earn progression rewards once the online services for The Golf Club 2019 Featuring PGA and PGA Tour 2K21 go offline. So, you’ve got just under two months to check off any remaining online achievements if you want to make sure your gameplay is truly complete.
According to its official website, 2K Games states that these titles are being sunset so that it can “focus [its] efforts and resources on other projects.” After all, we are now up to PGA Tour 2K25. So, it’s likely the publisher is shifting resources to support its more recent titles and new releases.
To that end, PGA Tour 2K23 is available on both PS4 and PS5 consoles, as well as for the Xbox One. Alas, the newest game, PGA Tour 2K25, is only available on current-gen consoles. Still, PS4-era gamers haven’t fully lost online support for PGA Tour games just yet.
