After such a long wait, the first episode of the Halo TV show finally released today on Paramount+. As a whole, this project is one that has been in development in some capacity for the better part of the past decade, which means that its release almost feels surreal. Now that the TV series has finally arrived, though, some longtime fans of the Halo video games seem torn on the direction that this adaptation could be heading in.

Not long after Halo debuted on Paramount+ in the early hours of this morning, social media began to fill up with impressions from viewers who quickly decided to tune in to the show. In a general sense, these impressions were very mixed overall. While some fans praised the look of the series, especially in regard to Master Chief’s armor, others found the story a bit lacking out of the gate. Others were also a bit confused about how this series fits into the larger Halo universe, which is something that 343 Industries itself has already explained in the past.
