On the HellDiversLeaks subreddit, a post by a reliable leaker surfaced with names of various game files included in the new Helldivers 2 update. Notably, this leak potentially shows objectives, enemies, and zones that may be introduced in this update or a future one. Notable spoilers include killing the “hive lord,” magma and lava environments, and an enemy called the “bug dragon traveler.” Just how many of these leaked items will be coming to the update on September 2nd?
Every Leaked Item Probably Won’t Be Coming to the Update
Although these items have been added to the game’s code, the nature of game development means that they aren’t all necessarily part of the current update. Game developers experiment with various features before they are ready, and plans can change — and they often do. Sometimes it can be years before a leaked mission appears in-game. Still, the news has excited fans who had been closely watching the previous updates and trailer.
Recently, Arrowhead Game Studios dropped a trailer for Into the Unjust and gave some information about the Hive Worlds that players would be exploring (via PS Blog). Observant Helldivers noticed that the trailer was teasing something huge that wasn’t explicitly shown or described by the developers, speculating that it was a gigantic Hive Lord enemy. The new leak on Reddit seems to corroborate the existence of Hive Lords on these new worlds, as one of the currently leaked objectives involves killing one. Hive Lords were a popular enemy present in the original Helldivers but had not made their official debut in the sequel.

While the previews for the update confirmed that players will be diving deep underground, this suggests the delving may go further than the trailer showed. Arrowhead Studios teased that players will have to worry about enemies both below and above, showcasing bug-like dragon enemies that could breathe fire. It’s also possible that these lava and magma zones may also be related to this new flying creature. New players should level up fast before the update so they can be prepared for the upcoming content.
A brand new premium Warbond called “Dust Devils” is also coming to the game to equip Helldivers with the proper gear for the desert-like conditions of the planet. It is shaping up to be one of the best Warbonds the Arrowhead Studios has added to the game, though it’s hard to compete against the detailed work that went into the recently released ODST gear.
