Hideo Kojima‘s studio, Kojima Productions, has announced a new event where they will detail the future of the company. A decade ago today, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain was released. It was the last game Hideo Kojima would make with Konami and the last game in his beloved Metal Gear Solid series. That’s not to say there will never be another Metal Gear Solid game, because Konami seems to intend for there to be more, but it will likely be a completely new take on the series. Kojima departed Konami and soon after partnered with PlayStation to found his new studio and kickstart a new franchise known as Death Stranding. Now, Kojima has multiple projects in the works.

Hideo Kojima has been on record about not wanting to make Death Stranding 3 himself, though he has ideas for it that he’d happily allow someone else the opportunity to bring to life. Instead, he’s focused on new concepts such as his mysterious horror game OD and his PS6 Metal Gear successor Physint. We have next to no information on either of these games, though OD was apparently developed by his team in parallel to Death Stranding 2 so it may be closer to release than one might think.
Hideo Kojima to Detail New Projects at Upcoming Event

Fans will get more information about the future of these games and more at a new event called “Beyond the Strand”, hosted by Hideo Kojima himself. Kojima Productions has announced that it will host this event in Tokyo on September 23rd, just a couple of days before Tokyo Game Show. Fans will be able to buy tickets and attend in person, but there will also be a live stream for those who aren’t able to make it all the way out to Japan.
The 3 and a half hour event will have special guests and a “glimpse into future projects”. It’s unlikely we will see anything from Physint as Kojima recently stated he is in the conceptual phase for it and is working on that all by himself. Maybe we will get some very general details, but don’t hold your breath.
We may also learn more about the Death Stranding movies that are in the works right now as well. Little is really known about either of them, but one is live-action and the other is animated. Either way, there’s much to discuss and it’ll be exciting to see what’s in store for the future of Kojima Productions later this month.
